N Space Labs, Inc. Launches ADAM™ Automated Data Analysis and Mapping Technology
N Space Labs today announced the public launch of its Automated Data Mapping and Visualization (ADAM) technology and its new web site at http://www.NSpaceLabs.com. Specializing in easy-to-use interfaces, sophisticated statistical analysis and high quality graphic outputs, N Space helps to solve the problem of information overload by providing innovative custom data mapping services that help organizations analyze and distribute critical data quickly.
From property site selection and regional financial performance analysis to voter analysis and land-use depiction, N Space provides turnkey solutions, including conceptual design of the desired visualization, data acquisition and preparation, and production of both static and interactive maps. Our services help to increase operational efficiency and optimize managerial decision-making through visual intuition.
Since beginning operations 18 months ago, N Space Labs has provided custom business data analysis and mapping services exclusively to the Corporate Real Estate Department and Facilities Management Consultants at Waste Management Inc., a Fortune 200 corporation, and OWP&P, the largest architecture firm in Chicago. N Space Labs has now produced more than 2,500 high quality map analyses for these clients.
Over the past six months, N Space Labs has worked concurrently to automate this map making process through the development of the ADAM interactive map creation environment. This technology allows N Space to produce high-volume high-quality map analyses with unparalleled low cost and fast turnaround time. As a direct result, N Space is now able to serve additional clients without adding additional staff, and is able to pass along significant cost savings to its clients relative to other mapping service providers.
With the unique ADAM capability deployed, N Space is now opening its doors to serve new clients in industries in which N Space staff have operational experience, including Corporate Real Estate, Retail, Non-Governmental Environmental and Political Organizations, Direct Marketing, Advertising, and retail Financial Services. In mid-October, top New York architecture firm Perkins Eastman signed on as the first new client for the ADAM technology.
Reality check? As a direct result of a $500 investment in ADAM visualizations, one client altered a real estate purchase decision, saving an estimated $1.2M every year.

N Space Labs Develops Flash-Based Online GeoSpatial Data Exploration Tool
N Space has developed a proprietary in-house geospatial data exploration application, "flashMAP," which will enable non-technical staff at N Space clients to peruse internal company datasets derived from N Space Labs' GIS consulting work on their own corporate intranet without requiring additional hands-on consulting from N Space technical staff. The tool is particularly effective for clients that must deal with a wide variety of data dispersed over a large geographic area, and for data mining in which the specific information sought is not always clear prior to exploration.
As N Space Labs created and analyzed spatial datasets for our corporate clients, it found that there was no tool on the market that allowed non-technical staff within our client organizations to efficiently and effectively make use of the interactive potential inherent in their internal corporate spatial datasets. Instead, client staff collaborated with N Space staff to identify what maps they would most likely benefit from viewing, and requested production of high-resolution static paper versions of these maps. Leading GIS software packages could potentially allow them interactive access to their spatial data online, but the technology choice was unattractive to them for several reasons.
First, the capital investment required was a deterrent (as much as $15,000 for a single one-user license for a leading package, plus ample labor required by technical staff for configuration and maintenance). Second, there is a significant learning curve associated with the use of each of these tools that, particularly in organizations in which a large number of staff can benefit from interacting with spatial data, makes this technology choice unattractive. Finally, the leading online tools are streamlined for detailed information queries seeking specific information, but are not as well suited to perusing a large volumes of data efficiently at a high-level.

N Space Labs Delineates 85 New Market Areas for Waste Management, Inc.
N Space Labs recently drafted 85 new market area boundaries for Waste Management, Inc. as part of the company’s reorganization effort. Combining operational requirements with data management needs, N Space developed comprehensive guidelines for creating the new market areas.
“The intent of these market area guidelines is to standardize zone delineation,” said Doug Shore, the CEO of N Space Labs. “This new structure will facilitate better data collection and analysis systems.”

N Space Map Analysis Estimated to Save Client $1.2 Million Annually
According to an estimate by OWP/P Facilities Management Consultants, a single map analysis by N Space Labs will save Waste Management Inc. (WMI) $1.2 Million annually by causing WMI to alter its location choice for a new facility in New England.
N Space provided WMI with an analysis of optimal locations for a new WMI facility using N Space's "B-Class" map innovation, which shows in a single intuitive map view the relative degree of residential and the degree of commercial density for a region. The need for a new WMI facility is directly related to the waste generated by residential and commercial customers, and operating costs for the facility a highly correlated to driving distances from facilities to customer locations. N Space's B-Class map caused WMI to change its site selection to a location more centrally located to high residential and commercial density zones. The higher cost of real estate in the denser location is estimated to be offset in just one year, with an annual operating savings of $1.2 Million annually thereafter.

N Space Labs Produces More Than 2,000 Map Analyses of Waste Management Inc. Corporate Data
Waste Management Inc., the largest garbage company in North America, is a Fortune 200 company with over $12 billion in annual revenues, a 25% market share, and a corporate real estate portfolio of more than 2,500 properties worth more than $7 billion. N Space Labs has worked with WMI and their Facilities Management Consultants to develop a comprehensive business data-mapping program that:
- Represents property dispersion
- Identifies competitor locations
- Identifies market reach and penetration
- Highlights growth and expansion opportunities
- Recommends market area boundaries
- Tracks financial performance over time
- Improves real estate database accuracy
Over 2,000 map analyses have resulted, which have been used by top executives in the corporate real estate department to determine optimal market areas for redistricting, appropriate acquisition and disposition targets, and new market opportunities deserving of additional resources.
By strategically visualizing corporate data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, N Space Labs helped the WMI corporate real estate group make difficult portfolio decisions. Because of the increasing complexity of real estate portfolio management and the importance of GIS, N Space continues to provide widespread mapping services for WMI. In addition to corporate real estate applications, N Space maps assist with national customer pricing decisions, investor and media relations, and financial planning and analysis.
